Fashion Recap: 88th Annual Academy Awards

It’s Oscar Night! No wait… they should know better! Sundays are dedicated to The Walking Dead. At least for me (Whit R). Per usual, I watched the red carpet portion to see what everyone was wearing. I did watch the first 15-20 minutes to see Chris Rock’s opening. I know we were all wondering how he was going to address the lack of black nominees. I think he handled it pretty well without being too controversial. After Walking Dead, I may watch the remaining portion of the awards. Crossing fingers that Leo will FINALLY win - even though pretty much ALL of his movies were better than The Revenant.

Anyways - on to the important stuff! There were a lot of great hits. A lot. Like too many for me to even go through. But i’m going to try to pick a few of my favorites.

ASHLEY ASHLEY ASHLEY! Cleavage on fleek girl! LOL I can’t seem to find a professional photo but watching on the E! red carpet pre-show, I just couldn’t take my eyes off the dress! Red is already a stand out color. The cut outs add to it and I just think she looks great. This “plus size” bombshell rocked it! One of my favorite looks for just taking the risk!

Priyanka Chopra is up next for best dressed. Talk about amazing. The Quantico star wore a sheer white dress designed by Zuhair Murad. This dress is part of his spring/summer 2016 collection. This is part of his couture collection but this could easily be a wedding dress! He does have a bridal collection which is stunning.

When I saw Brie Larson on the screen… I was like wow. She looks amazing. There is something about the ruffles. And the sheerness around the top of the dress adds a cool distorted effect. Her dress is by Gucci. She’s up for some nominations for “The Room”. I haven’t seen it but they were giving it praise on the red carpet so I may need to check it out.

My favorite couple style of course would be Chrissy Tiegen and John Legend. No shade to Kim Kardashian but Chrissy knows how to dress her pregnancy. Her dress was nude and featured deep red embellishments designed by Marchesa.

As I said I could go on and on with good looks so - to wrap up a couple other favorites quickly - Rachel McAdams! Very sleek and sexy! (Side note: Spotlight was a great movie. You must watch!) Gaga took a risk with pants and I think it worked! Sylvester Stallone looked dapper in his navy suite. Charlize Theron was ravishing in red! Dress by Dior.

Not everyone was completely “Whit It”. I wasn’t feeling Kerry Washington’s dress at all! The leather top - mmm not so much.

So I LOVE Whoopi Goldberg but I was not feeling the dress AT ALL. But honestly… I believe her personality made up for it.

And lastly was Heidi Klum. This dress has so much potential. Remove the flowers and the sleeve and she would have been on the best dressed list. Kris Jenner and Giuliana Rancic were raving over this look but again, not really feeling it.

Let us know what some of your hits and misses were for the night.
