Fashion Events,
Last Tuesday I went to a local event in Indianapolis - The Trend Report with Fran Yoshioka, presented by Pattern, a fashion networking community I am apart of. Fran, a global trend-tracker and fashion analyst, is known for her consulting services and interpreting the bigger picture. I definitely witnessed this at her presentation. She went through all the details of what we need to know about the trends for Fall 2013 (she's a whole year ahead)! I was definitely excited to learn about what there is to come for next year, so I took notes to share with you! Here are some highlights:
Fran talked about how trends reflect the future (things unknown) as well as look back for inspiration. It's about finding a different place to get creative. I interpreted this as always finding ways to reinvent or refresh things - for example, taking something old and finding a new way to mix it up in a modern way.
Ingredients (Trends)
There are a lot of great color combinations for Fall 2013. Some of my favorites that Fran talked about are the following:
Lichen & Olive with chartreuse as an accent (I'm a fan!)
Steel & Concrete with navy as an accent
Stained Glass colors: Color palette based off of the rich and majestic feeling inspired by stained glass. Blues, purples, teals, reds, and golds.
As far as shapes and specific styles we will see next year, Fran talked about these:
The Great Indoors: Comfy cardigans, fair isles, ombres, tweeds, foulards and rich decorative flowers.
Historic: This trend can go masculine or feminine with Dandy suits, longer jackets, skinny pants and the hourglass shape
Military: The popular trend makes a return with olive color, gold buttons, band leader jackets, soutache and ornate details.
These are all just a few of the many trends Fran covered in her presentation. I loved all the information she shared and am definitely looking forward to seeing her again next year. If you ever get a chance to see one of her trend reports, you won't be disappointed!. Learn more about Fran and her background on her official site here.
