Fashion Recap: 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards

Red carpet season is in full effect. Last night the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards brought out all the Hollywood stars in their best dressed. Overall, we saw a lot of slits and mermaid gowns on the red carpet and enjoyed discussing a few looks with you on Facebook. Lets take a look at the Golden Globe style:

Definitely my (Whit W) favorite of the night, Sofia Vergara stunned on the red carpet in a navy blue custom-made Vera Wang peacock gown and Harry Winston jewels. We saw a few ladies wearing the mermaid shape. This style works great for Sofia, who is known for flaunting her curves. She won a Golden Globe with the rest of the cast of the show Modern Family and was a highlight of the show with her acceptance speech (and not to mention seeing her Diet Pepsi commercials throughout the night).

Charlize Theron, another favorite, looked great in a dusty-rose Dior dress with Cartier jewelry and Givenchy shoes. Jessica Alba looked beautiful in a beaded pale purple Gucci gown.

We loved Kate Beckinsale in a blush-colored beaded Roberto Cavalli gown. Nicole Richie wore a silver Julien Macdonald dress, Jimmy Choo shoes and her own House of Harlow bag.

Paula Patton stood out on the red carpet in a bright lemon yellow Monique Lhullier mermaid gown. Angelina Jolie wore a champagne satin one-shoulder Atelier Versace gown with Lorraine Schwartz earrings and ring. Brad Pitt wore a simple black tuxedo.

Many of our Facebook followers had much to say about Sarah Michelle Gellar's dress. She wore a dramatic tie-dyed Monique Lhullier gown. Some didn't like the tie-dye effect, and others appreciated her taking a risk. Reese Witherspoon went for classic red in a Zac Posen pre-fall 2012 peony taffeta bustier gown (also wearing the mermaid shape). Instead of an updo, she opted for a beachy, wavy look with her hair.

Lea Michele from Glee and Madonna went for metallic looks on the red carpet. Lea wore a revealing silver Marchesa gown and Lorraine Schwarz jewels. Madonna wore a dark green embroidered gown by Reem Acra and picked up an award for Best Original Song - Motion Picture "Masterpiece".

Salma Hayek & Mila Kunis kept it dark in black gowns. Salma wore a shimmering black and gold gown from the House of Boucheron with a Lapérouse ring. Mila wore a Grecian-inspired Dior gown. She has also been named the new face of Dior.

The Help stars Emma Stone and Viola Davis went for rich, deep berry shades on the red carpet. Emma wore a deep plum and fuchsia Lanvin gown and Viola wore a burgundy Emilio Pucci gown.

Glee stars Amber Riley and Dianna Agron wore red: Amber in a Badgley Mischka gown and Dianna in a laser-cut Giles gown.

Mary J Blige wore a nude/earthy tone Michael Kors dress with feather detail at the bottom. Newly engaged Jessica Biel wore a bridal inspired lace Elie Saab gown.

So what looks did you love?
