Celebrity Style,

Fashion Spotlight: Dw by Kanye West

Kanye West debuted his Spring/Summer 2012 women's collection called Dw by Kanye West for Paris Fashion Week. A lot of celebs were in attendance such as Lindsay Lohan, Ciara and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.

No confirmation yet but we can only assume that the Dw is in honor of his late mother, Donda West. Kanye's collection featured a variety of pieces: dresses, pants and tops mostly in neutral colors with a pop of color here and there. There were even some fur pieces (with Kanye's taste, we are almost positive it isn't faux… so we may be hearing from PETA soon).

There were a lot of mixed reviews from people who attended the presentation. Ciara thought the line was amazing while Wall Street Journal stated "The only thing more painful than witnessing the dress was watching the model pitch down the runway in shoes so ill-fitting that her spike heels were bending at angles". - via Popularcritic.com

Speaking of the shoes (and accessories), check them out below:

Our reviews:

I (Whitney R) think it's a great collection. We often see these celebs, such as the Kardashians, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, etc. creating these so/so fashion collections for department and retail stores. I feel like Kanye has went above and beyond. This is something the average person wouldn't wear everyday but I think that is what makes this collection Paris Fashion Week worthy. Anyone agree? If I had the money and the body, I'd wear 80% if not more of the looks.

I (Whitney W) think, from what I saw, that the collection looks sohphisticated with a mix of sexy-chic (all the deep plunge necklines). I definitely see Kanye's influence in the pieces. I wonder what the price points will be for the collection - I would expect higher-end judging by the complexity, detail and material of the clothing. I don't know if the entire collection would be my style, but I definitely see a few items I could wear. Congrats to Kanye for continuing to expand his brand and solidifying his place as an icon in the fashion world.
