Top Trends for Fall 2011

It's almost officially fall, but it feels like it already outside. I (Whitney W) was not ready for the drop in temperature, but that was a good sign that it was time for some fall shopping: layers, jackets, boots... the usual. This fall many new and recycled trends are big for the season. According to Glamour magazine's rundown of the most wearable trends, a few are peplum shapes, mustard hues, polka dots, camo-inspired clothing, maxi skirts, high slits, lace, choker necklaces, plaids, jade green, and chunky sweaters. Let's take a look at some of our favorite fun trends for fall 2011, along with ideas for what to buy:

Polka Dots:

There are always favorite prints for each season, and this fall it's polka dots. It was seen down the runways of Marc Jacobs and Diane von Furstenberg, so it must be hot. I own a polka dot dress from H&M that I can't wait to wear again soon.

Tip: You don't have to wear it head to toe; try small accessories like a polka dot scarf for starters.
Jade Green:

Love this color! Jade is a beautiful darker green that is rich and perfect for fall. A few of our favorite fashionistas have already been spotted in the color this year.

Tip: You can wear it as a solid color or mix it up in a print or geometric lines.

Mustard Hues:

Brighter yellows were big this summer, but for fall we take the shade a little darker with golden mustard hues.

Tip: If the hue doesn't work with your skin tone, try smaller accessories or prints with the color mixed in.

Maxi Skirts:

This trend has come back around and was made popular again this summer. Luckily you can take them right into the fall.

Tip: Make the maxi skirt boho chic if dressed down with loose tops and layers or glam if dressed up with high slits and fitted or tucked in tops.

Hope you enjoy shopping for the fall!
