Inspired Look: Empire State Of Mind

Empire State of Mind...that is what I (Whitney W.) am still stuck in after spending the Thanksgiving holiday there last week :). I noticed a lot of trends while in NYC the past few days which inspired me to share some of the popular items along with some things I purchased myself. I got a chance to visit the Topshop and Fred Flare stores for the first time and did some good shopping at the usuals - Macys and Forever 21, along with a list of other stores that had Black Friday sales. Some of the NYC trends I noticed were lots of slouchy boots (both leather and suede), flat ankle boots paired with leggings, leather and wool jackets, scarves, cute accessories, and chain handbags.

Alicia Keys AMA Performance Look

Alicia Keys was one of the many artists who attended the American Music Awards last night. She performed twice, once with Jay-Z and once by herself. This look comes from her "Empire State of Mind" performance with Jay-Z. They both kept it sharp in suits - Alicia's version had to be more feminine, featuring a low cut backless blazer and tuxedo style leggings. She finished off the look with strappy sandals.

We found a few backless and semi cutout blazers for you. The more affordable versions come from Urban Outfitters (with lace on the back) and Topshop (in silver). We also found tuxedo leggings, featuring a stripe down the sides similar to Alicia's.

While rehearsing for her AMA performance on Sunday night - she will be performing her new single "Louboutins" - J Lo wore the Bridget peep toe bootie by Christian Louboutin.

Cassie at NARS Event

Earlier this month Cassie attended a launch party for the NARS 15x15 project. We wanted to share how to incorporate elements of her look to make it more easily worn by anyone.

On The Set: Mariah's Gucci Knit Boots

Mariah Carey shot her new video for "H.A.T.E.U." over the past few days, and while shooting in NYC on Friday she was spotted in the cute Gucci Lockhart Buckel Ankel Boot. The knit boots cost over $1,000, but your best bet for a cheaper version might be a similar black pair by Betseyville for $149.

Amerie's ELLE Magazine Photoshoot

Amerie is featured in the latest issue of ELLE showing off her chic personal style. Take a look at three of the looks that you can incorporate into your own wardrobe.
